The OhioDance Festival is an annual statewide celebration of dance through
Performance, Dance Presentations/Discussions, and Screenings.
The festival’s theme, Woven Lineages: Preserving and Expanding Dance Practices Visually and thematically, Woven Lineages draws on the metaphor of weaving — threads of the past interlacing with threads of the present to create something whole, resilient, and ever-growing. It’s an invitation to see dance not as a fixed inheritance, but as a living practice: one that each generation reshapes while still honoring where it came from.

Jasmine Hearn, originally from Houston, TX, is an interdisciplinary artist, choreographer, teacher, doula, dancer, performer, and organizer. They are committed to performance as an expansive practice that includes a spectrum of dance and somatic traditions, sound design, garment design, film, and the archiving of matrilineal memories. Named one of Dance Magazine’s “25 to Watch” (2025), Jasmine is a recipient of a Foundation for Contemporary Arts Grants to Artists Award (2023), a Cynthia Hazen Polsky and Leon Polsky Rome Prize in Design with Athena Kokoronis of DPA (2023), and also awarded two NY Dance and Performance Bessie Awards for Outstanding Performer (2021, 2017* with the cast of skeleton architecture).
