The Lindyroos
Lindy Hop and Swing Dance
The Lindyroos
Lindy Hop and Swing Dance
Columbus, Ohio
Come learn the authentic dance of the 1930's and 1940's that was shaped by the changing music and values of this period in history. The dance originated in the ballrooms of Harlem, back in the late 1920s and is a combination of Black Bottom, Blues, Charleston, Balboa and Collegiate Shag. Sometimes known as the Jitterbug, Lindy Hop can be a crazy, acrobatic style used for exhibitions and at the same time quietly rhythmic and subtle...but enjoyed by dancers of all levels. Mark and Shannon, of The Lindyroos remain true to the roots of these swing era dances and are dedicated to preserving and teaching the dances that were "the cats meow" back in the swing era.

Authentic Movement Expression: A Class for Men

All relationships are experienced as movement. The mover (student), often with closed eyes, begins to trust the compassionate witness (teacher) and dares to be truly seen, perhaps for the first time. In this class setting the teacher keeps the process safe and the students themselves are both mover and/or compassionate witness. This dynamic and reflective unfolding of your authentic Self is a powerful means of going deeper into your creative wellspring where real healing occurs. The waves of unconscious feeling come to the surface and the teacher creates a safe container for the hidden and unbidden to emerge and transform relationship to self and others. A class for men ages 13 and up. Dates and times to be announced. For details: Fanchon Shur, Growth in Motion, 4019 Red Bud Ave., Cincinnati, OH 45229; 513/221-3222; nowfanchon@aol.com
