Columbus Dance Theatre

Auditions for Male and Female Dancers
Columbus Dance Theatre, a contemporary ballet company, professional training school, and arts presenter located in Columbus, Ohio announces auditions for Company and Apprentices positions for the 2012-2013 Season.  CDT will enter its 15th season as it completes another critically acclaimed year.  Columbus Dance Theatre performs in its home theatre, The Fisher Theatre as well as other venues throughout central Ohio and the U.S.  CDT produces the work of its Artistic Director and resident choreographer Tim Veach as well as the works of other contemporary choreographers.  CDT performances have included the works of:  Kennet Oberly, Alan Hineline, Taryn Kaschock-Russell, Kristina Isabelle, Stella Kane, Susan Hadley, Melanie Bales, Rebecca Fiol, Maria Glimcher, Myvonwynn Hopton, and Barbara Thatcher among others.

 

The CDT Season begins in September and continues through May.   Contract offerings are based on experience and include unpaid Apprentice positions, paid Apprentice positions, as well as paid Company positions.  Dancers work 5 days each week with 3-4 hours of rehearsal daily as well as Company ballet class each day.  Apprentices perform in the Company repertoire.  Paid contracts range from $220 to $360 per week.

Audition Information:  Auditions will be held at Columbus Dance Theatre, 592 E. Main St. Columbus, OH on *Saturday, March 3rd at 12:30 p.m.

*Arrangements can be made if individuals are unable to attend audition

Audition Requirements:

Minimum Age: 16yrs. for Apprentice consideration and 18yrs. for Company consideration

Strong Ballet Technique required – Women should have pointe background –

Ability to move in a variety of contemporary styles is beneficial

Provide a head shot and/or full body shot as well as a detailed resume

Dancing Wheel

Is currently seeking sit-down (wheelchair) dancers for employment in the 2011/2012 season, including an immediate call for a female sit-down dancer.

The Company is seeking strong wheelers either with dance experience or the interest and ability to learn diverse choreography. Candidates for this position must be adept at daily wheelchair mobility and able to navigate well, be a team player, and have the interest and ability to educate audiences about disability and dance. Dancers are required to work Monday-Friday 10a.m. to 3p.m., and travel on tour when necessary.

Full 52-week contract, compensation according to experience, paid vacation and an opportunity to travel throughout the country and abroad (with all expenses paid). Ballet, modern and strength training classes are offered throughout the week.

GroundWorks DanceTheater

GroundWorks DanceTheater seeks experienced and versatile male dancer proficient in ballet, contemporary and modern techniques.

GroundWorks is an acclaimed contemporary company based in Cleveland, Ohio, dedicated to the creation of new work in dance. The company is completing its 12th season. Artists will work closely with artistic director David Shimotakahara as well as nationally and internationally recognized choreographers, and composers of new music. The work often involves live music collaboration. Current repertory includes work by Zvi Gotheiner, KT Neihoff, Gina Gibney, David Parker, Art Bridgman and Myrna Packer, Keely Garfield, Alex Ketley, Dianne McIntyre and Lynne Taylor-Corbett among others.

Compensation: Annual contract starting at $20,000 with benefits.

Becoming a Certified GYROTONIC® or GYROKINESIS® teacher is an amazing journey of self-discovery and empowerment! The first step is to read the certification curriculum on the GYROTONIC® web site.

Inspiral Motion / GYROTONIC® Cleveland is offering 2 Intern / Scholarship positions in 2009 – 2010. To qualify, you must first make an appointment for a Private Audition. The Audition will consist of a 90-minute GYROKINESIS® class and a 3-hour introduction on the Pulley Tower. The interview portion includes a panel interview, program overview and all candidates must have a movement sequence prepared as a part of your teaching audition.

Wright State University Dance Program

Dance auditions for admittance into Wright State University’s BFA dance program for year 2012-2013 will be offered February 11 and February 25 in the Creative Arts Center on campus at WSU in Dayton, OH. The audition will include a ballet barre followed by center combinations in ballet, modern and jazz. Photographs are required for all those auditioning. Students interested in auditioning for the WSU/Dayton Ballet II program and/or the WSU/Dayton Contemporary Dance Company II program must submit a videotape/DVD two weeks prior to the audition.
