OSU Department of Dance Faculty Position Opening
We seek a dance professional who is actively engaged in a combination
of
creative activity and theoretical inquiry with an emphasis on video/film
and
dance (including but not limited to dance documentaries, experimental
dance
for camera, and/or dance documentation and archiving). We welcome a person
who is currently connected to the forefront of video art as it relates
to
bodily expression and choreographic composition and has established
relationships with the professional field nationally and internationally.
We
value an artist/teacher with an interdisciplinary perspective who is excited
by the investigation of the full range of possibilities for video as a
creative and practical element of a dance education and career. We strongly

Job Description: Production Director
Reports To: Managing Director
The Production Director supervises all aspects of Cincinnati Ballet’s
and the Otto M. Budig Academy of Cincinnati Ballet production and technical
operations. This includes creation of the production budget and maintaining
the department’s operations within it, generation of the production calendar
and schedules within all union guidelines, and coordination of performance
activities with artistic, technical, and venue staff. Duties include,
but are not limited to:
• In collaboration with Artistic Director, Company/Stage Manager, and
Managing Director create, manage and monitor production and technical
plans and budgets.
• Provide diligent oversight of budgetary production by forecasting and
offering timely communication with Manager Directing regarding potential
budget deviations.
• Create, manage and communicate production calendar and schedules for
all IATSE, AGMA, Wardrobe, Stage Management; Guest Lighting, Set and Costume
Designers, and all Artistic and Production Staff.
• Facilitate pre- and post-production meetings with appropriate personnel.
• Oversee production warehouse/ storage planning and supervision and tracking
of inventory.
• Oversee all design process coordination (scenery, lighting, wardrobe),
repertory and rental research.
• Engage and over-see Stage Management support.
• Oversee all Wardrobe participation and thoroughly understand schedule
and Wardrobe union regulations.
• Oversee all IATSE Crew to most effectively adhere to union rules and
regulations while serving management budgetary requirements.
• Supervises the IATSE Crew in all aspects of technical direction, including
management of supplies, equipment purchases/rental, set maintenance and
refurbishment, prop procurement and maintenance, pyro licensing/supervision
for theatre and FOH.
• Oversee Stage Management for rehearsal studio support and maintenance.
• Local and long haul Trucking management and administration/ documentation,
shipping and receiving.

CB II Manager and Academy Coach

Position Summary:
The CB II Manager teaches, coaches, organizes schedules, and administratively
supports Education Outreach efforts as it involves CB II - Cincinnati
Ballet’s second company, which is a group of 6 dancers who have been chosen
from around the country, receiving a small stipend, who will also dance
with the professional company in full-length ballet productions. The Academy
Coach organizes, coordinates, sets, and conducts rehearsals for Academy
students’ and Trainees, who are top level students from the Academy, University
of Cincinnati, and the School of Creative and Performing Arts, with the
professional company ballet performances through the season - typically
3 productions a year.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Work with Education Outreach Director to schedule CBII dancers and or
Trainees for Education Programs including visits to Schools, Nursing Homes,
Special Events, Luncheons, Fine Arts Fund Campaign efforts or special
Marketing and PR opportunities.
• Give administrative support to Education Outreach Director, by helping
to instigate relationships, finalize schedules and contracts for appearances,
and coordinate with Education volunteer.
• If Education Director is not available to conduct an Education Outreach
Program, CB II Manager would be expected to present the program.
• At times choreograph for CB II/Trainee presentations.
• When needed, teach ballet technique class and/or pre-show warm-ups classes
for Company, CB II, Trainees, and/or Academy.
• Create and maintain contracts for CB II dancers.
• Supervise evaluation and status of CB II dancers.
• Establish lines of communication with Artistic, Academy and Education
Outreach Directors, to bring awareness of any CB II/Trainee dancer issues
or problems.
• Work closely with Associate Artistic Director and/or guest choreographer
and the Academy Dean to coordinate schedules for CB II, Trainee and Academy
participation with professional company.
• Audition Academy/Trainee students for participation in company full-length
ballets.
• Rehearse, teach and/or set sections of full-length ballets or mixed
reps that include CB II dancers, Trainees and/or Academy students.
• Work with Academy Manager to communicate with parents of Academy students
participating with professional company to establish schedules and policy
procedures.

Columbus Dance Theatre Announces Choreographic Fellowships in Partnership with the Greater Columbus Arts Council
Columbus Dance Theatre, in partnership with the Greater Columbus Arts Council, announces the Columbus Dances Fellowships. The fellowship awards are designed to support local choreographers in their efforts to create new dance in the Columbus community. Fellowships will be awarded to 5 choreographers whose work will be presented as an extension of Columbus Dance Theatre’s annual community dance concert, Columbus Dances. Monetary and space grants will be awarded as part of the fellowships.
“We are so pleased to be able to support the dance community in this manner,” said CDT Artistic Director Tim Veach. “CDT is grateful to GCAC for their support in this effort to ensure a vital and vibrant landscape for new dance in Columbus.”
The fellowships are supported with funds from the Greater Columbus Arts Council and administrative and artistic resources from Columbus Dance Theatre.
Applicants must have an interest in developing new work and will create works using dancers from the greater Columbus community for fellowship consideration. Successful applicants will have their works produced by CDT in its home performance space, The Fisher Theatre during a weekend of performances free to the public.
Choreographers will submit new, original dances of 7-15 minutes in length in any style. An open adjudication will be held on December 12th at 4pm at Columbus Dance Theatre’s Fisher Theatre. The adjudication panel will be comprised of: Associate Vice President-The Arts Initiative at The Ohio State University Karen Bell, Otterbein College Director of Dance Stella Kane, and CDT Artistic Director Tim Veach. Five choreographers will be chosen by the panel to participate in a weekend of concerts at Columbus Dance Theatre, Columbus Dances. Choreographers must reside in Franklin County and be at least 18 years of age to submit work for adjudication. As part of the adjudication process:
* Choreographers should show at least three (3) minutes or more of their
proposed dance.
* Dances must be duets or group work – no solo works.
* Dances must be shown by the performers who will appear in the final
presentation.
Adjudication and Performance Information:

Main St. Columbus, OH 43215 on Sunday, December 12 beginning at 4 p.m. Performances of Columbus Dances will be held at CDT’s Fisher Theatre on April 15 at 8 p.m. and April 16 at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. .
Awards: Five (5) Choreographers will each be awarded fellowships of $2,000. This is a comprehensive award. Choreographers will have the ability to determine the use of these funds (ie: dancer’s salaries, costumes, music, etc.)

Dancing Classrooms Northeast Ohio
The Dancing Classrooms program is a ten week – twenty session social
development program teaching ballroom dance to children during their school
day. Dancing Classrooms is not about teaching ballroom dancing. The dance
is a tool for getting the children to break down social barriers, learn
about honor and respect, treat others carefully, improve self-confidence,
communicate and cooperate, and accept others even if they are different.
Our mission is to build social awareness, confidence and self-esteem in
children through the practice of social dance.
Dancing Classrooms Teaching Artists are: actors, dancers, individuals
who can move with rhythm; have excellent interpersonal skills; love kids;
able to work in a team; work in a classroom; have a generous spirit; a

The Education and Community Outreach Manager is responsible for the educational and artistic oversight, and future growth of Boston Ballet's programs that serve its mission to provide greater access to the arts, dance and the art form of ballet, specifically to underserved populations.
He/She provides artistic and educational leadership and oversees all aspects of management for the organization's three existing outreach programs (i.e., Citydance, Taking Steps & Taking Healthy Steps and Adaptive Dance). Plus he/she works with leaders in arts, educational, and community service organizations in and around the greater Boston area, to build community relationships for Boston Ballet and collaborate on new initiatives.
The Manager leads a team of approximately 45, which includes 3 full-time staff (i.e., Department Administrator, Program Coordinator, and Education Advisor) and approximately 40 part-time /seasonal teaching specialists, teaching assistants and musicians. He/She works closely with Boston Ballet School's Directors and staff and with Boston Ballet's Institutional Advancement and Leadership teams.
Responsibilities Include:
* Manages all activities related to program execution for Citydance, Taking
Steps & Taking Healthy Steps and Adaptive Dance and ensures they are
executed with the highest possible standards.
* Ensures artistic curriculum for the programs meet goals and supports
Boston Ballet's mission
* Manages high level of customer interaction; provides aid and support
to students and parents/caregivers, and responds to questions and issues.
* Develops professional contacts in the communities associated with each
program
* Collaborates with Outreach Team, Boston Ballet School leaders, and community
partners on curriculum planning and implementation, educational material
development, student/program evaluations, and long-range planning.
* Designs enrichments and new program activities such as, in-school workshops,
demonstrations, classes, parent events, Boston Opera House events, and
activities with Community partners.
* Manages a $300K+ budget; includes budget development, tracking and reporting;
Executes contracts and payroll.
* Supervises three full-time, year-round, staff members; Hires, trains
and supervises 40+ seasonal staff
* Collaborates with Education Advisor on evaluation and ongoing assessment
of all programs.
* Works closely with the Boston Ballet's marketing team to develop promotional
materials and coordinate local and national promotion of programs.
* Cultivates donors and corporate sponsors of programs, and is actively
involved in grant writing and other fundraising initiatives, in close
collaboration with Boston Ballet's Institutional Advancement team
* Represents Boston Ballet's Education & Community Outreach Programs
to corporate, government and individual funders; Supports Senior Leadership
team, Trustees and Overseers, as needed.
* Represents Boston Ballet in the Community and Boston Public Schools;
Builds relationships for the Institution

Position Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in the arts or arts-related field. A degree in Dance
or Dance Education preferred.
• Three (3) years of experience responsible for the implementation of
performing arts events or residency programs for an arts center or presenting
organization.
• Familiarity with the field of arts education, specifically dance education,
related to the schools and communities of New Jersey.
• Familiarity with arts and cultural programs reflecting the ethnic diversity

long-term addiction, trauma and mental health treatment, integrated with
safe housing, to homeless women and their children. Over the summer months,
the children living with their mothers attend a 12 week therapeutic day
camp known as Summer Quest which is located at The Buckeye Ranch. The
intent of Summer Quest is to help break the cycle of addiction by working
directly with the children whose parents are in treatment. We achieve
this goal by working to increase social competencies, life skills and
protective factors while decreasing risk factors through a combination
of interventions. Our activities include ATOD prevention groups (Alcohol,
tobacco and other drugs), educational groups, art therapy and structured
play, exercise, weekly field trips and cultural activities.
This summer we are seeking a diverse group of folks who would be willing

Because of increased enrollment and interest, we are adding new dance/movement
therapy classes at our state-of-the art dance studios and in the Northeast
Ohio community. We are seeking teachers who have worked with dance/movement
therapy with people of all abilities. The classes usually take place in
the morning hours, but could possibly lead to classes in the early afternoon.
Interest or experience working in arts integrated curriculum is a plus.
Substitutes also needed. Degrees in dance or education are preferred.

The American Repertory Ballet (ARB) is seeking an experienced full-time Development Director to manage all aspects of individual, corporate, foundation and government giving associated with raising funds for New Jersey’s largest dance organization. ARB has three programmatic areas: the professional company, the Princeton Ballet School with 1500 students at three central New Jersey locations, and Education and Outreach.
The successful candidate will be a highly effective fundraiser with a proven track record in planning, managing and implementing a comprehensive development program. Working with the support of the Development Committee, the Director will develop fundraising strategies and be responsible for achieving American Repertory Ballet’s fundraising goals.
Responsibilities include designing, developing, implementing and evaluating new and ongoing fundraising initiatives as well as expanding contributed income through donor identification/cultivation, annual giving, alumni giving, and special events. The Director will identify, cultivate, and support the solicitation of high-level donors, prospects and volunteers. The Director will oversee the activities of a Development Coordinator, who is responsible for grant-writing, special event implementation, and data management of fundraising records.
Qualifications: six or more years of demonstrated successful experience in non-profit fundraising management. Significant work and achievement with trustees and major donors. Definitive and tangible experience with fundraising processes and systems. Strong written and oral communication skills. S/He should have a passion and appreciation for the performing arts.
